Special Needs Ministry

The FBA Special Needs ministry partners with families of children and adults with special needs to provide a safe and caring environment where they can develop a growing relationship with Jesus. Children and adults of all abilities matter to God and to us. We seek to teach God’s Word in fun and exciting ways, utilizing music, crafts, and dynamic Bible lessons. We provide a unique space because spiritual growth happens best in an environment that meets the diverse needs of the child or adult in a safe and engaging way.

When do you meet?

We have two class options: an adult class (14+) and a children’s class (K- age 13). Both of these classes meet at 10:30 AM only. If you are unable to meet in person, we have an adult virtual class that meets from 9 – 9:30 AM.

Where do you meet?

The Special Needs Ministry classrooms are located in the FBA Kids Ministry area. Our classrooms are located to the left of the FBA Kids Ministry lobby.

What opportunities are there for adults with special needs?

Sunday Mornings
We offer a class on Sunday mornings that uses a curriculum specifically designed to meet the needs of adults with cognitive disabilities. Activities include a Bible lesson, Scripture memory, prayer, and sometimes crafts. The class meets at 10:30 am.

Connect
A social gathering that meets the third Friday of every month from 6 to 8 PM for individuals with special needs ages 14 and above. For more information, please email Kelly Denham.

Special Events
Additional opportunities for fellowship and service will be offered periodically.

What opportunities are there for families?

We provide Respite the second Saturday of every month from 9 AM to Noon for the parents of the children’s class. We care for the child with special needs as well as their siblings so the parents can spend quality time together.

Moms’ Group meets the fourth Thursday of every month from 6 to 8 PM. Our mom’s fellowship gives mothers of kids with special needs the chance to connect and find support through shared experiences.

Family Events
We love providing opportunities for fun, fellowship, and connecting through periodic family get-togethers, like our Fall Picnic.

What qualifications needed to volunteer?

As with any ministry to minors, you will need to pass a background check and complete training that we provide prior to serving. Beyond that, a willing heart and a desire to serve are the only qualifications needed to volunteer in the Special Needs Ministry. No certifications or previous training are required.
